This is why a monitored grounding is essential in areas with potential explosive atmospheres. EKX-4 (2-pole) ensures a low impedance grounding connection to safety of static electricity.
APPLICATIONS The EKX-4 (2-pole) Grounding Control Devices provides safe loading and unloading for containers, drums and similar vessels in combustible dust and gas hazardous areas. It has been designed especially for use in the chemical and food industry.
SIMPLE OPERATION When the grounding clamp is correctly clamped to the pin on the vessel and a safe grounding is ensured, the clearly visible LED turns green and the redundant control outputs switch to ‘release’. Only then can the loading process be started. EKX-4 (2-pole) also provides a NAMUR compatible output, switchable between static and dynamic signals. Should the grounding connection be disturbed during the filling process the EKX-4 (2-pole) indicates a red LED. The control outputs switch to ‘stop’. The filling process is interrupted immediately to create a safe status. An additional volt free auxiliary output is available, e.g. for external alarms or sounders.

The EKX-4 (2-pole version) is certified in accordance with the European Explosion Prevention Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) for operation in hazardous areas of zone 1 and zone 21.
